MIFA Expands Sales Cooperation with Darfon into Strategic Partnership
FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – Bike maker MIFA and Darfon Electronics, producer of Votani and BESV branded e-bikes, announced today that they are also joining forces in product development and manufacturing. Earlier this month the two companies revealed to have entered into an, exclusively for Germany, sales partnership.
According to Darfon’s e-bike President Andy Su the two companies make a good combination as Darfon is strong in IT electronics while MIFA has a background in the automotive industry.
MIFA produced Votani e-bikes
As an opening step in this partnership the first Votani e-bikes will roll of the MIFA assembly lines next month. MIFA owner and CEO Heinrich von Nathusius said that also the BESV e-bikes are to be produced in Sangerhausen. He stipulated that the two e-bike brands are not in competition with the ones of MIFA which are Grace and Vaun. Vaun is MIFA’s newest brand launched at this year’s Eurobike and offers an extensive range of entry-level e-bikes that retail for 1,000 to 1,500 euro.
The strategic partnership will also involve product development. In this area MIFA is to benefit from Darfon’s background in battery technology as well as battery production. Darfon operates a battery producing facility in Brno, Czech Republic. MIFA and Darfon are aiming to extend on that through the integration of (Darfon) electronics in (MIFA made) e-bikes.
The strategic partnership is also to involve after sales service and could eventually make the two companies, “walk together in Asia,” as Darfon’s Andy Su put it.
