‘Online Presence Essential,’ Says Shimano Nordic MD
UPPSALA, Sweden – “The bicycle market is going through rapid changes where omni-channel is seen as an interesting distribution mix next to existing distribution channels. Managing your online presence is essential for claiming a share of the market and generating further growth,” said Shimano Nordic Managing Director Andrew Cowan at the launch of the company’s sales and education center.
Based in Uppsala, Sweden, the new office will have education facilities for both bicycle mechanics as well as marketing staff working in digital marketing. “In addition to the focus on education, the new office will also contain new sales rooms where Shimano Nordic will be able to present their brands in the best possible way for our business partners,” stated Cowan.
“Bicycles and aftermarket products are also becoming more technical, with more advanced functions to make bike riding even more efficient and enjoyable. The need for technical training and product education has therefore never been bigger than today.”
Broadcasting live via internet on demand
For the past 11 years, Shimano Nordic’s main office in the Scandinavian regions has been located south of the city center in Uppsala, Sweden. To meet future demands, the new purpose-built office will have a clear focus on sales and education. The technical training area will contain several workstations where bicycle dealers can get hands-on training on the latest products. Education sessions can also be filmed and broadcasted live via internet on demand. The large sales rooms will present Shimano Nordic’s product portfolio and help customers plan both their product range and omni-channel approach to consumers.

Relocation to the new office in the Librobäck area in Uppsala is scheduled for April 2019.
