TAIPEI, Taiwan (10 April 2000)-On 7 April COLIPED, the Brussels-based organization representing over 180 European manufacturers of two-wheeler parts and accessories, introduced its own ‘Made in Europe’ marking system. According to the organization, the marking is a clear message and a strong tool, providing its associated companies and their European products a distinctive added value.
“Last year in Taipei we presented a questionnaire to our customers and pretty much everyone was enthusiastic about the idea,” said Greet Engelen, general secretary of COLIPED. Engelen added that in addition to showing the product’s European origin, the logo also indicates which country in which it was produced. The new logo boasts of the European Union colors blue and gold. But despite using the EU colors, Engelen said the logo is not focused only on Union members. “We are for all of Europe. That means Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Turkey, you name it.” (JW)
