LONDON, UK–On 15 June the Motor Cycle Industry Association (MCI) of the UK is initiating a Ride To Work Day. The association is urging motorcyclists nationwide to show how motorcycles, scooters and mopeds can reduce commuter-driven traffic congestion and pollution with dramatic effects. “Fancy an extra half hour in bed in the morning at the same time as saving the environment by easing traffic congestion and pollution,” an MCI release states, adding that motorcyclists can get involved by leaving their car at home and riding a motorcycle to work, offering a car-driving colleague a lift on the back to demonstrate how bikes can halve commuting times.
Last year’s event attracted over 400,000 motorcyclists and saw employees across the UK organizing rides into their offices to kick-start their bosses into providing tax-free parking, changing and storage facilities for motorcyclists. (JW)
