Industry Leaders’ Ride To Eurobike
FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – To raise the bicycle industry’s voice for increased political support of urban cycling the Cycling Industry Club (CIC) initiated an industry leader’s bike ride to the Eurobike show venue on the opening day.
“We come to Eurobike to sell more bikes and accessories. The best way to do that is through advocacy and we decided to put advocacy first on our agenda at Eurobike,” says Tony Grimaldi, Cycleurope President and Chairman of the CIC Advisory Board. “Our message is clear and strong: the industry wants to see more advocacy on the political agenda in Brussels and the Capitals of the European countries.”
Cycling tour schedule
On Wednesday, 26th August 2015 the participants of the industry leader’s bike tour will gather at 7.30 am at Friedrichshafen train station. The cycling tour will start at 7.45 am and arrival at Messe Friedrichshafen is expected at 8.30 am. The cycling tour will be concluded with a photo call and press meeting. Participants can register here and request a bike if needed.
In a recent study the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) showed that when the level of cycling in Europe will be doubled the total market volume will increase by another 10 million bicycles. If cycling levels matched those of Denmark, the industry would be selling 30 million more bikes per year. This enormous potential creates a reason for industry to back the request for more collaboration with advocacy. A full report on this ECF study will be published in the August issue of Bike Europe.
