Industry- & Retail Organizations 2045

BRUSSELS, Belgium – ‘Cities + Smart Bike Share’ is the name of the workshop organized by the Platform for European Bicycle Sharing & Systems (PEBSS). It is specifically designed around implementing ‘Policy Recommendations for Smarter Bike Share’, incorporating all forms of bike share, including the much discussed dockless solutions.

More and more cities all over Europe, and the world, are confronted with the bike share (r)evolution like ofo and Mobike. Together with the growth of the bike share system operators, the technique innovated simultaneously. Today’s bike share systems are app-based, dock-less, and we can collect data from GPS to better understand how people move in cities.

Avoid politically and economically costly decisions

“With such an excess of operators and options for implementing public-use bike share, the ‘Cities + Smart Bike Share’ workshop has been developed for the cities who may need guidance to frame the conversation with bike share operators, and by extent avoid politically and economically costly decisions,” says Paul Stratta, PBESS Director.

The workshop starts with an expert review of the framework, followed by practical implementation sessions in order to build on the learning of our networks and partners. Stratta points out that the event is not a conference. “It is a practical working day for experts in the sector to collaborate and find solutions together,” says Stratta. “A ‘must-not-miss’ opportunity for practitioners, commissioners, and policy makers working in any area of bike sharing, rental, and urban mobility.”

The Cities + Smart Bike Share Workshop is organized by the PEBSS, an initiative of the ECF (European Cyclists’ Federation); hosted at the EU.

The two-day event is scheduled for Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 November in Brussels. More information and registration at the website of the ECF.
