SOEST, Netherlands (June14) – Dutch police will take action against motorized step scooters. The tiny fun vehicles have become a more than incidental view and they are not a toy because some can reach speeds in excess of 16 km/h. Mini-scooters have caused a number of one-sided accidents with the main risk of somersaulting involuntarily. This is due to insufficient braking capacity and an unfavourable centre of gravity. As motorized step scooters have no legal admission number, they cannot be insured against liability. (BT)
