In November 2014 SRAM announced a technical issue with these brakes, but described these as a performance and safety concern with no reported failures in the field. However, one month later the industry supplier found out that the failures were related to the product and SRAM issued a recall and requested anyone who had a bike equipped with SRAM RED 22 and S-700 hydraulic road brakes had to stop using the bike immediately.

In this new video Stan Day explains the key mechanical failures of the previous system, and highlights features for the new product. The new series will be delivered as of mid-April.
