After Focus Safety Advice In Europe Now Recall in North America
CARLSBAD, USA – Focus Bicycles USA issued a voluntary recall for the 2014-2015 Focus Izalco Max bicycles with Acros-branded upper headsets. Earlier this year Focus brand owner Derby Cycle sent out a safety notice only to its dealers in Europe.
Derby Cycle spokesman Arne Sudhoff points out that, “the voluntary recall in the USA and Canada is due to local regulations.”
The headset mounted on the Focus Izalco could cause the carbon-fibre fork steer tube to crack. The company has received 11 reports of incidents outside the United States, including one reported injury in France. No incidents have been reported in the United States.
IBDs and online
The bicycles involved in this recall were made in Germany and Taiwan and have been sold via IBDs and online at www.bikebling.com and www.carbonconnection.com from January 2014 through August 2015 for between USD 1,800 and USD 9,500.
Focus offers its customers free repair of the headset.
