LAS VEGAS, US (October 20th) - Well, that era of carbon is many, many moons ago… but the present day version is now a confirmed hype. What started at Eurobike now gets the same amount of attention at Interbike. A worldwide trend seems to be upon us. The quality and possibilities of the material seem greatly improved since the last 'hype' some 12 years ago. Originally created in the 60's in the US, carbon fibre is widely used in aerospace and more and more in sports equipment. The big distinction is between high-class fibre and the low-tech variant, which is more cosmetic than useful. We will have to wait and see if this 'Carbon-Age' will last as long as the original one…(MH)
