BEIJING, China ( November 10th) - Supachai Panitchpakdi, the director general of the WTO has warned against exaggeration of China's economic power. According to Mr. Panitchpakdi, the spectacular growth of the Chinese exports (32 % in the first 9 months of 2003) can also be seen as a motor for the global economy. After all, imports in China also surged with 41%. Compared to the figures of the last two decades ( an economical growth of 10% and a trade growth of around 14% per year) it seems that membership of the WTO has favoured China's trade immensely.
