BARBENGO/LAUSANNE, Switzerland - (November 21th) Oval Concepts announces today that the UCI (International Cycling Union) has formally approved their JetStream forks for use in UCI events. The JetStream forks' patented vertical slots and blade shapes are designed to funnel airflow around the front wheel, reducing drag effects. The JetStream is commercially available and it meets all UCI dimensional requirements, and had initially been allowed by the UCI commissioner for use in the Giro d'Italia, but was suddenly discredited when Giro d'Italia race leader Gilberto Simoni prepared for the final time trial. Simoni's Cannondale TT was outfitted with the Oval Concepts forks. Less than two hours before the start, Saeco's mechanics had to change over Simoni's bike to a conventional fork. Now the fork has been rehabilitated by the UCI.(OB)
