KAMPALA, Uganda (February 17th) - Two Ugandans have been arrested in Japan over alleged thefts of high-powered motorbikes which have been rampant there. The suspects are Shakur Kiyingi commonly known in Kampala as 'Bbosa Shaft' and Nuhu Ssebukeera Lubega. Sources say the stolen powerful motorbikes, commonly known in Uganda as 'Digi', are sold cheaply in Kampala, and even attract foreign buyers from as far as London. The (mostly) Honda bikes, are sold in Uganda at prices well below the market value. A bike costing US$ 5,000 will sell at the Ugandan market for as little as US$ 1,000. (MH)
