THE HAGUE, Netherlands (April 20) – The Dutch NMa (government agency for fair competition) will verdict on a case against several bike makers in Holland. According to a spokesperson of the NMa, probably even as early as this month. In September 2000, the NMA raided the offices of Batavus, Koga Miyata, Sparta, Giant, and Gazelle because the manufacturers were suspected of making price-deals and sharing competition-sensitive information. It took the NMa two years to complete its report on the matter, and then the manufacturers had the opportunity to convince the NMa of their innocence. Now that procedure is nearing its conclusion and definitive decisions/convictions will be imminent. In November 2003 trade organisations BOVAG and NCBRM were fined €125.000 and € 30.000 respectively.
