HO CHI MIN CITY, Vietnam (may 25) - According to Vietnam Rubber General Corporation, export prices of Vietnamese rubber in May 2004 reached high record level of VND21.5million (€ 1134.-) per ton, reaching a peak in the past 15 years.
Reason is the current increasing demand of natural rubber from China for producing auto tire and tubes, increasing high export prices of rubber from other Asian countries.
Vietnam is emerging as one of the leading rubber export countries over the world, with annually exports about 380,000 - 390,000 tons of natural rubber; the figure could reach to 800,000 tons by 2010, thanks to expansion of rubber plantation, experts predict.(MH)
