DIEREN, the Netherlands(10 january) - The board of commissioners of Royal Gazelle bicycle factory has appointed mr. Ruud Sjamaar (45) as its new CEO. Sjamaar succeeds Klaas Dantuma (61) who will retire on short notice. Sjamaar, a Dutchman, is an economist who has worked in the food industry. His last position was with H.J. Heinz (57 varieties) company as director brand development and innovation for Europe.
Gazelle (Est. 1892) is the best known bicycle brand in the Netherlands. The company is owned by Gilde Investment, and it must be estimated at an annual production of 325,000 units per year with an off-works average price in excess of € 400.(OB)
