MUNICH, Germany (10 February 2000)--Messe Munich has announced that it is laying its bicycle show idea to rest. "The bicycle industry was not able to come to a final conclusion. Therefore we will discontinue our work on this project," Messe Munich told Bike Europe during the Winter Ispo Show in Munich. The organization also pointed out that it does not mean its bicycle show idea is canceled forever. "But as we said before we are not willing to start a third international bicycle show in Germany. It's all up to the industry."
Even with Messe Munich's temporary withdrawal from the competition, the German (and European) trade show dilemma still remains unsolved. The industry is still split between Eurobike and IFMA. And as has been stated many times before, the bicycle industry is overwhelmingly in favor of one international bicycle show on European soil each year. For more information about the industry's voice on the European show dilemma read the February issue of Bike Europe. (JB)
