GAND, Belgium (June 17) – Wednesday, July 13 2005 the European Union will officially announce its decision on the anti-dumping duties on the import of bicycles and parts from China and Vietnam. This is stated by the European Two-wheeler Retailers’ Association (ETRA) on its website: www.etra-eu.com. ETRA which represents some 6,000 IBDs in 9 EU member states who employ about 14,000 people, protested against the proposed measures on bicycle imports from Vietnam.
On July 13, the anti-dumping measures and the European Council’s decision on it, will be published in the European Official Journal and will with that come into effect. Early June, the European Commission has proposed to the Council to impose 48.5% anti-dumping duties on bicycle imports from China. The import of Vietnamese bicycles into the European Union would be subject to 34.5%, except for Always (Strongman) that would get an individual duty of 16.1%.
