DIEREN, Netherlands (9 March 2000)--Gazelle, Holland's number one bike brand, is upping its daily production from 1,650 to 1,800 bikes. Never before has the Dutch company produced so many bicycles per day. According to Gazelle, the move is necessary to meet the rising demand. To increase production the company has hired 35 new employees.
According to the RAI Association, last year 1.45 million bikes were sold in the Netherlands, up 7% over 1998. In 2000 Gazelle expects to sell more bicycles as well. (JW)
