TAICHUNG, Taiwan (Aug 26) – Sad news about one of the most respected members of the bicycle community. Jack Chang, founder of the Ideal bicycle company (among many other ventures) has been the victim of a car accident. Although at first the injuries he sustained did not seem lethal, he later passed away at his home, on August 10th. Jack Chang is most known for his phenomenal drive and energy, with which he built his business. Ideal, which started out in Taiwan, now has production plants in Mainland China and Poland, and is one of the top three bicycle companies in Taiwan. Jack Chang held many important positions in his life, among which executive director of the Taiwan Bicycle Exporters Association and chairman of the Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center, and many, many others.
Jack Chang will be bitterly missed, not just by his
family, but by all who have had the privilege of knowing him. (MH)
