BUNNIK, Netherlands (Nov 8) – Dutch BOVAG (branch organisation for
IBDs and repair/sales of vehicles) has found unexpected support for it’s lobby to keep the 6% VAT on repairs in place. The current chair-country of the EU, Great Britain, supports the idea, and has proposed the measure to be left in place till (at least) 2015. Only last year, the measure was under threat, as Germany opposed it – now the UK has ruled that one member state cannot infringe on the legal wishes of multiple other states within the EU.
And as the measure does not hinder the internal market, nor the respective tax-systems the UK endorses it. (MH)
