LJUBLJANA, Slovenia (Dec 13) - After months of waiting, numerous rumours and some vague plans, Rog kolesa (ex. Elan Bikes) has started an insolvency procedure at the beginning of December.
This definetly means the end of production in the current location in Ljubljana – the company has to leave the premisses by February 2006. Just to remind you - land and factory were sold to the bank in 2004 and they have been paying rent for it since then. There is still hope for the Rog and Elan brands - if somebody bought the brand-names and continued production somewhere else. There were talks about a foreign partner that would bring Rog back to life, but that too seems to lead to nothing... At present there are 70 empoyees at Rog, when Skimar (Elan) took over the company in 2001 there were 250 employees. (GS)
