Vietnam Firms Accused of Dumping

HA NOI, Vietnam (Jan 6) - The Argentinean Ministry of Economics and Public Service said it would investigate allegations of dumping of motorbike and bicycle components by Vietnamese manufacturers, according to the Trade Ministry’s Competition Administration Department (CAD). The products under investigation are bicycle and motorcycle parts, not complete vehicles. The department is working with the Vietnamese Office for Commercial Affairs in Argentina to collect documents and information pertaining to the lawsuit. According to a CAD official, no details of the companies named in the litigation have been made public. "Only one Vietnamese enterprise is operating in Argentina, so we hope the lawsuit will have little impact on motorcycle and bicycle component production," he said. Similar products from Indonesia and Malaysia are also under investigation in Argentina in anti-dumping claims. Vietnamese manufacturers have to date faced 25 trade-related lawsuits, of which 21 were anti-dumping disputes related to products including bicycles, footwear, steel bolts, and fluorescent lights.
