CEN Congress: Final Call!

BRUSSELS, Belgium (Jan19) – January 31 is the closing date for entries of the CEN Congress on the new European safety standards for bicycles. As the number of participants at this Congress is limited, applications have to be sent in urgently. The CEN Congress will take place 14 February 2006 in Brussels. COLIBI (the European association representing the European Bicycle Industry) and COLIPED (the Association of the European Two-wheeler Parts & Accessories' Industry) organize the Congress on the new European safety standards for bicycles and their possible and certain effects on the bicycle business. The Congress will be held in English. The first 4 bicycle standards – City and Trekking Bicycles, Mountain Bicycles, Racing Bicycles and Children bicycles – will be finalized early 2006. The new standards are destined to have a big effect in the bicycle business; in particular for product liability. This Congress will provide bike and component makers; importers; distributors; retailers and all others active in the bike business all information on the new CEN standards through expert speakers that will elaborate on the new EN (CEN) standards; the General Product Safety Directive & product liability and on product liability insurance.
