MUNICH, Germany (27 March 2000)--Last month Messe Munich announced that it was temporarily setting aside its plans to hold its own bike show. This month, however, the organizers have announced the creation of a so-called 'World of Bike Sports' segment at their upcoming international sporting goods show Summer Ispo 2000, to be held from 6 - 9 August. The 'World of Bike Sports' will be one of Ispo's many 'World of Sports' presentations, but unlike the other segments an entire hall will not be devoted to the bike sector. According to Messe Munich, the majority of bike suppliers will exhibit in hall A6 alongside fashion and beach sports. While Ispo does not expect to attract suppliers of bicycles and bicycle components and accessories, it does expect to sign up a large number of bicycle textile and apparel suppliers. Currently some 45 bicycle-related companies will exhibit at Summer Ispo 2000, most of which have their roots in the outdoor and textile segments. (JB)
