TAIPEI, Taiwan – For years Taipei Cycle Show organizer TAITRA has tried to force the government to create a new and larger fairground in Taipei. Several times the project – a new fairground in Nangang/Taipei – was rescheduled. Nevertheless according to TAITRA manager Jeffrey Hong, it will now be definitely ready in 2007: “The official opening is planned for next year’s April.” Then the showground as well as nearby shopping mall and hotels will be ready to go. Only the subway leading to Nangang is said to be not ready at this time.
The opening in April 2007 means that next year’s 20th Taipei International Bicycle Show anniversary edition will be the last one on the old Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) grounds. (JB)
