European Commission Starts Dumping Investigation on Chinese Made Saddles
MILAN, Italy – Last Friday the Official Journal of the European Union published the: ‘Notice of initiation of an anti-dumping proceeding concerning imports of certain saddles originating in the People's Republic of China’. The dumping complaint was lodged on 22 February 2006 by the European Saddle Manufacturers Association (ESMA). According to the Official Journal Notice, the ESMA made the complaint: “On behalf of producers representing a major proportion, in this case more than 90 %, of the total Community production of certain saddles.”
The Chairman of the ESMA, Pietro Nigrelli who is also general secretary of the bicycle division of ANCMA, the Italian industry association, said that the investigation will start immediately and will run up to January 7, 2007. “The whole procedure including the verdict of the European Commission on a yes or no for imposing an anti-dumping duty on bicycle saddles imported from China into the European Union, will take 15 months. So, on July 7, 2007 or before the European Commission will decide on an anti-dumping duty on Chinese made saddles.” For the complete information on the Official Journal Notice go to:
