CLERMONT_FERRAND, France (27 May 2006) – Edouard Michelin (43), grand-grandson of the company founder and President and CEO of the French tyre company, died last Saturday during a fishing party off the shore of Brittanny. The body of mr. Michelin has been found, and the skipper of the vessel they were on is still missing. In France, Michelin’s death was the topic of the day on Sunday, with lots of speculation about the exact circumstances.
The top of Michelin company was traditionally a triumvirate, but since last May 12, the top was reduced to two when the elder of the three retired. Now only financial man Michel Rollier remains and he will have to get the top team complete again. In a statement for Euronext today mr. Rollier says that the strategies for Michelin as a company won’t change with the accidental death of mr. Eduoard Michelin.(OB)
