HCM-CITY, Vietnam - The southern Vietnamese province of Binh Duong's export turnover has so far this year reached US $1.35 billion, a year-on-year increase of 25%. To the figure, the domestic sector contributed to US $398.8 million, a rise of 28.9%, and the foreign-invested sector more than US $59.7 million, up 23.4%. Products posting high growth rate included footwear, 33.4%, garments, 28.7%, electrical wires and cables, 24.6%, wood products, 16.2% and fine art and handicrafts, 10.5%. However, the past five month saw a decrease of 28.7% in exports of bicycles and bicycle spare parts. Vietnamese news sources report on similar drops in bicycle export throughout the country, as a result of anti-dumping measures.
