Selle San Marco Starts Cooperation with Cionlli
ROSSANO VENETO, Italy – Selle San Marco recently started a cooperation with one of the bigger saddle makers in the Far East; Cionlli that operates factories in China and Taiwan. The first outcome of the cooperation between the two saddle makers is the licensing of the Selle San Marco brand for the production of a collection designed in Italy called ‘Island’, that will be produced by Cionlli. For this Luigi Girardi, Managing Director of Selle San Marco, recently signed a five-year cooperation agreement with Daniel Lee CEO of Cionlli.

The ‘Island’ collection currently consists of three different models, but will be expanded in the near future. The ‘Island’ collection will be available to European and North American assemblers for the 2007/2008 collections. For managing the cooperation, order processing, quality control logistics Selle San Marco will be relying on a trading company with an Italian heart in Taichung, Taiwan. With the signing of the licensing agreement the directors of Selle San Marco and Cionlli expressed their desire for a lasting and rewarding collaboration for which Selle San Marco’s brings in the technological and design leadership and Cionlli the production capacity as one of the world’s leading saddle producers.

The announcement of the cooperation between the two saddle makers come at a time when rumours on an anti-dumping duty on saddles made in China and imported into the European Union are mounting. According to these rumours there will be a trial period installed as from January 1, 2007 for six months with an anti-dumping duty running up to 50%. As of yet Bike Europe could not get any confirmation on these rumours.
