Accell Launches NuVinci Stepless Gear Hub

LAS VEGAS, US - Batavus, Accell Group’s largest subsidiary, launched the new NuVinci gear hub that features stepless shifting. The company introduced the new hub at last week’s Interbike where Batavus was presented on the US market. It is the first company in the Accell Group to spec the American made hub. Other subsidiaries will follow in 2007. Accell Group has negotiated the exclusive rights to the new system for one year in the Netherlands. No exclusive rights have been granted for the rest of the world. Accell Group s North American subsidiary Seattle Bike Supply (SBS), which was acquired at the beginning of this year, will produce wheels fitted with the NuVinci hub for the aftermarket in the United States.

Batavus bicycles have been introduced on the US market in close cooperation with Accell Group sister company SBS (Seattle Bike Supply). For now the Dutch bike maker will not develop specific models for the US market. Several derailleur models will be on offer, and of course the models with the new American NuVinci hub. But also the ‘Old Dutch’ the classic granny bike will be on offer. Batavus fitness will be distributed via sister company Accell Fitness trough chain stores Seal and Pias, as well as trough IBD’s.
