Fire in SRAMs Taiwan Facility

TAICHUNG, Taiwan – On October 14 a fire caused severe damage to SRAM’s stamping facility that fabricates chain rings for Truvativ cranksets. The fire started in a building not owned by SRAM, but adjacent to the stamping factory. Fortunately, no one was injured. The stamping presses, though, were destroyed. At this time, the extent of the damage to the stamping tools is undetermined. This factory is not a part of SRAM Taiwan’s Dali factory where Truvativ cranks, chain rings, and bottom brackets are assembled.
The majority of October’s chain ring production was not affected. There is a possibility that some early November orders will be delayed. SRAM is working diligently to assess the damage to the tools, source temporary presses, and re-start production. Specific information related to customer orders will likely not be available until next week.
SRAM’s Vice President of Sales, John Nedeau says: “SRAM regrets how this event may upset your production. We appreciate your patience during this challenging time. We’re focused and committed to responding in a way that minimizes any commercial disruption for you and your customers. SRAM customer service locations will be in contact with you early next week to update you on the situation and work through your specific requirements.”
