AMERSFOORT, The Netherlands - Trek Europe will reorganize its European distribution: the central office in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, will be split up. New sales offices will be opened in France (Toulouse, headed by current French sales manager Nicholas Schaefer), in Denmark (by Danish sales manager Jens Snedker, and the Swiss office (Zürich) will from now on act for all German-speaking countries, and will be headed by German Sales Manager Harald Schmiedel.
Amersfoort will continue to cater for Benelux; its new head will be David van Dyck. Trek is optimistic that the majority of the employees that become redundant in Amersfoort will be prepared to re-locate to one of the new bases. Most conspicuous dismissals are Thomas Brown in Switzerland (he organized Trek Alpine) and Joost van der Wegen (57) in The Netherlands. Both worked 13 years for Trek.(OB)
