Decathlon Starts Selling Online
VILLENEUVE, France – Europe’s biggest in bike sales recently started selling online. Through a special online shop called Koodza, the sporting goods giant is offering about 4,000 products through the Internet.
No, bicycles or bicycle products are not yet included. However, it goes without saying that they will be in the program that currently holds almost all Decathlon’s private labels. What’s also sure is the fact that Decathlon’s online business will be a big success. In particular because online sales upped by about 40% during the third quarter of 2006. According to a recent report in ‘Sporting Goods Intelligence’, the trade publication for the sporting goods sector; 69% of the customers in sporting goods are now using the Internet to buy clothing or footwear. This represents the second largest product category in online sales after train and airline tickets.
