Taipei Show 2000 Attracts More Visitors

TAIPEI, Taiwan (20 April 2000)--Contrary to initial forecasts, the 2000 edition of the Taipei International Cycle Show attracted more visitors than in the year before. According to show organizer CETRA, the number of foreign buyers was up 14.3% to 3,966. The number of consumers attending the show (the show was open to the public each afternoon) reached 13,513. CETRA says that 1,402 buyers came from Asia (+6.4%), 1,305 from Europe (+30.5%), 215 from Latin America (+10%), 51 from the Middle East (+4.1%), 39 from Africa (- 22%), 761 from North America (+16%) and 193 from Oceania (-4.5%). Japan topped the list of foreign buyers with 645 (+ 2.1%). Japan was followed by the US (645; +16.4%), Germany (270; +28%), Hong Kong (197; +4.8%) and the United Kingdom (174; + 60%). (JB)
