MAARSSEN, The Netherlands – On March 1 this Newsletter and the Bike Europe website had a ‘Rumour of the Week’ that said that the 10 year lease contract for a bike facility located in the Netherlands but from Taiwanese origin, was about to end. As it turns out now, Giant owns the premises and the facilities of Giant Europe in Leystad, The Netherlands; this was said by Tony Lo; President and CEO of the Giant Group.
In the ‘Rumour of the Week’ section of the March 1 Newsletter, it was also asked whether the end of the lease contract would also mean the end of the production of Taiwanese bikes in Holland? Also on this subject Tony Lo was very clear in his answers. During the Taipei Cycle Show, at the A-Team meeting who he headed, Bike Europe asked him about the lease contract and the production in Holland. He answered that Giant owns the premise and the facilities; not through Giant Europe but through another company in the Giant Group. About the production in Holland he said that it will continue because the Lelystad facility is Giant’s main production site for hi-end bikes.
