MAARSSEN, The Netherlands - This week’s rumour is on big changes taking place in China. What is said is that the domestic bike market is changing course from low-end to more expensive bikes. Decathlon’s stores in China are focusing on that rapidly developing part of China’s huge domestic market for which the French retailing giant is also operating its new plant in Suzhou. It is said that lots of smaller makers in China are faced with problems switching to higher quality levels. Only the ones that already changed course, for instance by focusing more on E-Bikes, are said to cope with the current changes.
