Dates set for Bike Asia show

SINGAPORE - BikeAsia 08 will be the first international show in South East Asia fully dedicated to bicycles, motorcycles, components and accessories. The show will be organized by newly founded BikeAsia Pte Limited, of which 50% is owned by EICMA. BikeAsia 08 will be held from 10 to 13 April 2008 in the Singapore Expo, covering a gross exhibit area of over 20,000 square metres.

Ninety percent of the production of bicycles, motorbikes, components and accessories is concentrated in Asia. In Asia the two-wheeler market is growing as no where else in the world, in particular the demand for high level bicycles and motorbikes. Despite all this, there was until now, no specialist trade fair in Asia dedicated to the industry as a whole and of international scope.

“While travelling around Asia a great deal for work or for holiday, I have always been amazed by how popular bicycles and motorcycles are”, said Roberto Fabbri, Managing Director of BikeAsia. “I have always been amazed by the fact that such a huge market offers consumers a rather limited choice of products. I believe that this contradiction is chiefly due to the fact that a large trade fair, like the ones held in the West, is lacking in this Region.”

“Our aim is to repeat in Singapore the success of the event we have been organizing in Milan since more than 90 years”, said Guidalberto Guidi, President of EICMA spa and President of the company promoting the new exhibition at the presentation.
