LAS VEGAS, USA – The Bike Belong board and Interbike are discussing a new multi-year financial contract. If negotiations falter over a proposed deal that would require Bikes Belong to endorse Interbike and drop discussions of a show, then the advocacy group could launch a their own show.
The new contract is on top of the agenda for the June 24-25 meeting by the board of Bikes Belong. The discussion between Interbike and Bikes Belong has been going on for the past 18 months.
Large bike companies, like Specialized, Raleigh, SRAM, Trek and Shimano, all represented in the Bike Belong board, have raised objections in the past against the high cost of the show and the Las Vegas location.
The final race in a 10-city national series, the World Criterium Championship coincides with Interbike’s international bicycle expo this year. The criterium will be held on September 27, day two of Interbike’s. It is the final race in the 10-city Championship Series and will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas
