Rene Takens: third term as Colibi President

MUNICH, Germany – At their general assembly in Munich, June 14, the Colibi members unanimously re-elected René Takens, CEO of Accell group, as their President. It is his third three-year term.

“European associations like Colibi provide a platform for the professional national bicycle associations. Here they do not only exchange crucial market information, legislative and promotional information but they also follow –up on European legislation and determine common positions and strategies. I am honoured by the univocal support of the Colibi members, says Takens.

During the past term, the national associations of Bulgaria and Hungary* joined Colibi. Takens: “The European bicycle industry is committed to bring safe, comfortable and appealing products to the market. As much, we consider it our duty to contribute to the realisation of a bicycle-friendly climate. Therefore, and backed by the fact that the bicycle is the most environmentally-friendly, energy efficient, silent and healthy form of wheeled personal transportation, we will continue to lobby national and European authorities for a better integration of the bicycle in their policies and an acknowledgment of the huge potential of the bicycle.”
