DORTMUND, Germany (8 May 2000)- Decathlon's expansion in Germany will soon include a unique outlet located in Hannover. According to an interview with Jochen Förster, general manager of Decathlon Germany, in the new German sporting goods trade magazine Sport@All, the French sporting goods giant will sponsor and build the French pavilion at the upcoming World Expo in Hannover. "The building will represent France at the Expo and will be used for our retail concept after that. It will become one of our most beautiful stores," Förster promised in Sport@All.
After opening a Decathlon outlet in Würzburg another German outlet is planned to open in June in Herne. The Hannover outlet in the Expo pavilion is planned to open this year as well. Next to its own private bicycle label, Decathlon recently became the exclusive French distributor of K2 Bicycles. (JB)
