ENSCHEDE, the Netherlands – With the appointment of two new board members and a refinancing, Amtel-Vredestein hopes to end the crisis. Last March Rob Oudshoorn, one of the two Dutch board members stepped back. He did not want to be responsible any longer for decisions taken by his two Russian colleagues.
Soon after the take over of Vredestein by the Russian tyre manufacturer Amtel problems arose in the management team. “The initial idea was to give Vredestein the leading part with its experience in production, sales, marketing and R&D”, says Rob Oudshoorn.
“Unfortunately things went different than expected and the two Russian board members took decisions about acquisitions which could not be supported by the Dutch members of the board.” Oudshoorn is very positive regarding the two new appointed Russians. “They have an industrial backgroup and our first meeting has been very positive.”
