TIANJIN, China – In order to host increasing sales in the Northern part of the country, Giant decided to set up an extra factory in China. This region, with Tianjin as its centre, produces already 40% of the Chinese annual output of bikes.
According to Giant the factory construction plan is driven by their desire to provide full scale local supply to the north east area, rather than shipping from their bases in Kunshan or Chengdu. KMC, VP and Shimano are also located in this area. Tianjin is generally seen as the third production hotspot of China, after Shenzhen and Shanghai, close to their main export markets, Japan and Korea.
