FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany – As on the first morning of the Eurobike Show (Thursday) a Second World War bomb was found nearby Friedrichshafen, the already heavily suffering infrastructure of the Bodensee town was more or less completely blocked. Almost the entire Friendrichshafen’ police force was called in to evacuate a part of the nearby village of Efrizweiler instead of controlling the traffic to Eurobike. The result was that many show visitors were stuck in traffic jams for hours.

However, also on the second show day the traffic to and from the show was heavier than in other years, This all had to do with a record number of 34,280 trade visitors that made their way to the 16th Eurobike last week. Including the 18,800 cycling enthusiasts on Sunday a total number of 53,080 attended the biggest bike show on earth. Eurobike has become the industry’s top business meeting place worldwide and the leading innovation showcase for the media.

The number of trade visitors soared an impressive eight percent and there were five percent more exhibitors at this year’s Eurobike. These growth figures reflect the confidence in the bike market.

In a survey conducted by an independent market research company, the continued development of the bicycle market was given an overall optimistic rating. Eighty-six percent of trade visitors surveyed rated the current situation in the bicycle business as ‘stable to rapidly improving.’

The first demo-day on Wednesday nearly drowned in heavy rainfall. Only in the afternoon when the rain stopped, the demo day really started to get alive. Finally some 1,000 trade visitors and 300 media representatives came to the Demo Day base camp.
