Merida has reported rising sales this year due mainly to ongoing orders from the U.S.-based Specialized Bicycle Components Inc. (SBC).

Merida scored sales revenue of TWD 1.053 bn (€ 20.6 mn) for August, up 65.68% from one year earlier. It has also reported aggregate revenue of TWD 5.83 bn (€ 114.3 mn) over the past eight months this year, sharply growing 57.46% from a year earlier.

Based on the aggregate revenue over the past eight months this year, Merida expects to see its annual revenue to soar past TWD 9 bn (€ 176.4 mn) for the entire year compared to TWD 6.926 bn (€ 135.7 mn) in 2006.

Giant next to historical record

Last August Giant inc. scored sales revenue of TWD 1.124 bn (€ 22 mn), up 10.74% from a year earlier and only next to a historical high of TWD 1.129 bn (€ 22.1 mn) posted in October 2005. Merida shipped 68,600 units in August

Merida has posted aggregate shipment of 442,200 bicycles over the past eight months this year, up 41.92% from a year earlier and including 68,600 units in August. The firm’s sales in North American and European markets surprisingly increased during the bearish season this year.

For 2008 Merida reports its production lines of new models fully booked. While they are running at full capacity, the company challenges single-month shipments of 70,000 units and is expected to hit historical highs in its shipment, sales and profits this year.
