LAGUNA BEACH, CA/USA (16 MAY 2000)--Interbike and Bicycle Retailer & Industry News will bring south of the border flavor to the Big Bear NORBA nationals this month by hosting a Fat Tire Fiesta, with all proceeds going to benefit the California Bicycle Coalition. Scheduled for 7 to 9 on 19 May, the Friday night bash will include an all-you-can-eat menu of burritos, tacos and other Mexican specialties, as well as bottomless pitchers of beer and margaritas. All proceeds from a US$5 donation at the door of the event will go to the California Bicycle Coalition along with an accompanying mini-grant from Interbike's advocacy budget. The California Bicycle Coalition (www.calbike.org) recently launched an international letter-writing campaign to urge the National Park Service to create a model bikeable community in Yosemite Valley. In support of this program, "fiesta" party-goers will be encouraged to voluntarily participate in the campaign by signing letters provided on-site. (JW)
