OSAKA, Japan – The remodeled Deore XT series boosted Shimano’s sales in the period January - September this year. Total bicycle component sales increased 28.6% to JPY 112,019 million (€ 642 million) compared to the same period last year. Shimano’s operating income increased 51.1% to JPY 19,193 million (€ 110 million).
Next to a huge demand for the restyled Deore XT, Shimano reports that its positive sales results in Europe are thanked to good weather and economic conditions. Sales in the Latin American markets and in China increased as well.
According to Shimano the growing worldwide awareness for the environment and healthy lifestyles also had a positive impact on sales.
Shimano Inc. overall net income, including fishing tackle and other activities, went up by 61% to JPY 15,829 million (€ 90.74 million). Since January 1st this year Shimano’s shares listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange went up from JPY 3,460 (€ 19.84) to JPY 4,130 (€ 23.68) today.
