Exploding Number of Mini Trade Shows in Taiwan

TAICHUNG, Taiwan — Ride-On, Taichung Bike Week, FirstInPerformance, Taiwanathon, Surf-On; the list with names of mini trade shows to be held in Taiwan beginning December keeps growing and growing.

What started with Ride-On looks to be turning into an alternative event for the Taipei International Cycle Show which, with its March dates, is considered to be too late considering the current spec-cycle of the international bike industry.

Taichung Bike Week

In last week’s edition of this eMail Newsletter we published rumours on the Taichung Bike Week. In the meantime, it is clear that this event will take place in Taichung, Taiwan from 1 – 8 December in the Landis hotel (see photo). Prologo, WTB, Alienation, Freedom, Xpedo, Cinelli and Pro-Lite will present their 2009 product ranges to product managers.

Surf-On

Next to the Taichung Bike Week also Surf-On is a new event which takes place in the same week (4 – 6 December) and at the same hotel in Taichung. Surf-On is organized by Selle Italia, Selle San Marco, Vittoria, Wippermann, 3T and Kore.

FirstInPerformance

FirstInPerformance is also new on the list and comes from Campagnolo and its wheel brand Fulcrum as well as Continental and Marzocchi. Dates are 5 – 9 December and place is again the Landis in Taichung.
SRAM is organizing the Taiwanathon; also at the Landis from 3 – 7 December.

Ride-On 2009

Not at the Landis but in the Freshfields hotel in Taichung is Ride-On 2009 during the first two weekends in December 2007 (1 – 3 December and 7 – 9 December. There the 2009 modelyear ranges from the 11 component makers will be showcased. They are: Crank brothers, Hayes, Mavic, Fizik, Hutchinson, SunRingle, Fox, Magura, FSA, Manitou and Vittoria.

With the exploding number of special mini shows for product managers and buyers in Taiwan, there’s talk about joining forces in order to create one overall event. Also the event organizers are to enter into discussions with TAITRA, organizer of the Taipei International Cycle Show in order to have the show on an earlier date in the year.
