Air Shox Recording Major Growth in Europe

TAICHUNG, Taiwan (17 May 2000)--Taiwanese rear shock supplier Air Shox is making a major push into Europe. According to the company's sales and marketing director Leonard Pao, this year Air Shox will increase its European sales by 500%. The company entered the market in April 1999 and sold approximately 12,000 units for the model year 2000. Its 'one size fits all' plug and play product has already attracted a pretty good following. Currently the company supplies a wide range of European bike manufacturers, including Cycleurope, Cannondal, Cilo, Univega, Wheeler, Raleigh, Komenda and Intersport, among others. Pao notes that the phenomenal growth in Europe comes from the fact that the lightweight, low-cost shock is perfect for the continent's city and trekking bike models. According to Pao, while other air shocks begin at US$30, its models begin at US$17. Moreover, it is lightweight, easy to install and maintenance free. (JW)
