NUNSPEET, The Netherlands - Shimano Europe announces today that a contract has been signed for the acquisition of their Polish Distributor for Bicycle Components, R & P Pawlak, located in Poznan.
In a press release Shimano Europe says: “Beside the fact that because of economical growth and increasing interest in cycling the consumption of bicycles and components has shown a positive development, in the recent years the bicycle production in Poland developed more and more as a central supply source for bicycles in West Europe and has become the manufacturing base for several Asian companies as well.
Gate to Russia
“Additionally to that it is well known that within Europe Poland is considered as a gate to the territory of Belarus, Russia where we expect a further development of bicycle consumption but as well manufacturing over there.
“The final contract has been signed on the 17th. of December 2007; all staff of R & P Pawlak will be taken over and the current management remains in place for the coming period.
"We appreciate the efforts that Richard Pawlak and his team have put into building the Shimano brand in Poland over the past years and we are looking forward to a good future cooperation with them.”
